Let's Start March Madness Off With An Upset And A Whole Lot Of Bench Mob Dancing
Welp, this sums up March and this tournament pretty well. Minnesota is an absolutely dogshit 3pt shooting team. I may even be using that lightly. They were 285th in the country in 3pt shooting coming into this game. So what happens? They shoot 11-27 from three. That’s just something you only see this time of the year. Hell, the bench didn’t even score today. Just weird stats you only see in this beautiful, stupid event.
Don’t get me wrong I was impressed with Minnesota, but what was that by Louisville? Nothing they did made sense. They never rotated correctly defensively. They tried to press and Minnesota just killed it with a simple quick turn and go. They tried to run a bit of the 1-3-1 and Minnesota killed it. They were dominated on the offensive glass. It was a bit bizarre.
But here we are in game 1 of the NCAA Tournament with a 5.5 point underdog winning outright. I feel like that’s going to be a common theme these next two days. There’s a whole lot of parity after the top 8 or 10 teams or so.
One thing to keep an eye on though is Jordan Murphy’s back. He was pulled out of the game for a few minutes to get stretched and had his back worked on. He’s vital to Minnesota, especially (assuming) Michigan State wins. He’s a monster on the glass and a guy that Minnesota can play through on the post.
Valid argument here though:
